Missing Davao

Saturday, September 11, 2010
The Memet and I were in Davao City 2 weeks ago. We were there from August 24-29. Ahhh... I miss being away from work. T'was total bliss. Hahaha!

We didn't go to all the tourist spots because The Memet was busy with the convention that he had to attend. We were only able to take a tour of Davao City and Samal Island on the day of our arrival. We were supposed to fly back to Manila on the 27th, but our stay got extended all thanks to our Ninong who followed us there and shouldered the expenses for our 2 extra nights' accommodations. He also brought us to Surigao del Sur where we went nature tripping. Hehe.

Here are some shots from our whole trip:

Hello Davao International Airport! Ü

First stop: Museo Dabawenyo

Second stop: A flower farm. Forgot the name...

Third Stop: Hagimit Falls

Last Stop: Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort

It was completely uneventful as it was The Memet's 1st day at the convention. I only have some pictures from our breakfast together at Grand Men Seng's restaurant.

Here's one of our pictures:

The Memet attended the convention again today, so nothing much to post. We did have dinner at Ranch and Reef that night where we had yummy, yummy steak. Hehe. Ranch and Reef is a buffet restaurant along Torres St. They charge P399 per head on weekdays and P400+++ per head on weekends. If you happen to go to Davao, you definitely have to try their buffet. :D

This is the day we were supposed to fly back to Manila. But after checking out of Grand Men Seng, we transferred to a budget inn called Sychar Hotel along Bajada St. instead and paid for 2 nights of accommodation. Our Ninong would later reimburse it as our extended stay was his idea. Hehe! Later that night, our Ninong and his entourage joined us in Davao and treated us to dinner at a Thai Restaurant 10 minutes away from Sychar Hotel.

Our Ninong was able to hire a van that would drive us to Surigao del Sur and back. The ride was bumpy and travel time (one way) was around 4 hours. I think the sites were worth it though.

We went to the following spots in Surigao del Sur:

First Stop: Enchanted River

Second Stop: Tinuy-An Falls

Third Stop: Britania Islands (Love my digicam's panoramic shots... Hehe)

The Memet and I went to church at 10am then had lunch with Nanette at Ranch and Reef. We were sooooooo full that after lunch, we decided to walk around the market called Bankerohan. This is where you should go to buy fruits for pasalubong. :) We bought several boxes of suha, mangosteen, and marang. We didn't buy durian anymore since nobody really asked for it as pasalubong. Hehe! After shopping for fruits, we went back to Sychar to take a nap. At around 4:30pm we went back to Davao Int'l Airport for our 5:45pm flight. Yeah, we overslept so we had to rush to the airport. Hahaha!

I can't wait to take a leave from work again to experience the beauty of our country. :)

PS: All photos were taken using my new TX5. Our Davao trip was a good way to road test it. Hehe! Lovin it so far! Ü (Hmmm... Dunno why the photos' resolutions seemed to degrade after being uploaded using the new Blogger Editor. Weird.)
